Physical Images Image Bank

I chose this image because I like how elements have been entered into the image to replace her facial features. I also like how this picture shows surrealism and is abstract. Although colour is only present on her face the image is still inviting and bright because of the bright lighting. The dripping effect on her eyes and mouth adds effect to the picture because it is spreading the colour to the rest of her body. I can use ideas from this image in my work because I can add colour to duller parts of the image and add in colourful elements to replace facial features like this image has.

I chose this image because I like how it has been destroyed with water. I like how virtually the whole image has been destroyed but you can still make out what was there before and what the image is supposed to be. The blur of colour is attractive to the eye because we are intrigued to know what the image is showing. Also, I like the inaccuracy of the water, it is not in a certain place and hasn't just blurred out one section of the image. I can use ideas from this in my work by using water to drip or blur the ink from the photo. 

I chose this image because I like how they have used burning to take out her eyes. Although, the burning is not exact, it isn't a clean circle I like this image because it shows imperfections and how our minds instantly replace these burning marks with eyes even though they are not exact replicas of the shape. I think burning has a great effect on an image as it shows how a picture has been destroyed. I can use elements of this image in my work as I can use burning to remove elements of an image or just to destroy the image completely. 

I chose this image because I like how it shows surrealism and is abstract. I like how it forms a collage rather than one image on its own. The fact that the images are not clear and are ripped with uneven edges gives it a bester effect. You can tell that these have been taken from newspapers because of the ripped edges and scratched images. I can use ideas like this in my work by getting difference features like this person has and creating a collage out of them.

I chose this image because I like the abstractness of the image. The persons face is unclear to us but we are aware of what it is supposed to be. I like how every part of the image has been rotated to make the image look strange and unrealistic. Although we cannot see the face properly we are still able to make out where the features are and which way each part as been rotated. I like this image because it acts as a puzzle for our eyes because we instantly try to piece each section together. I can use ideas from this image in my work by making a similar puzzle with different pictures.

Composite Image Making Image Bank

I chose this image because I like how it has a deeper meaning that just that his upper body has been changed and replaced with smoke. The deeper meaning of this image could be the fact that this is how some people feel underneath and in their head but they fail to show it. I like that the shape of the head can still be seen if you look closely. Also, the fact that they have used white smoke gives the image a great effect because the rest of the image is dull and dark which makes the smoke stand out more. I can use this in my work by replacing something in an image with something completely but make it still look realistic. 

I chose this image because I like that just by removing the man from the image makes it a lot better. Also the way they have changed the lighting makes the image look brighter and more attractive than the original image which is much duller and boring. The fact that they have also taken away the shadow of the mountain in the background   makes the image better too because it reduces the darkness in the image and makes it appear happier and brighter. I can use this in my images because I can take someone completely out of an image to make it better.

I chose this image because I like that it almost tells a story of this one girl. When you first look at the image you think the girl in the right corner is taking a picture of a girl in the mirror but it is the same girl when you look closely. The way she has incorporated herself into the image more than once is clever because at first look we think we are looking at different people. The section of the image which interests me the most is the mirror section which shows her wearing one outfit in the mirror but looking into the mirror she is wearing a different outfit. I can incorporate this into my image by using something similar by using a mirror. 

I chose this image because I like how we can see the motion that the woman has taken and the fact that the background has been made duller so we can focus fully on the woman's movements. Although this image has been manipulated I like that it looks realistic as we can't really tell it has been changed. I can use ideas like this in my work because I can manipulate a photo by following someones movements and showing them in one image.

I chose this image because I like how it has been manipulated where we see something as it is but in a different way. In this image we see a hand but it is acting as a statue or a wall. I think by adding the bird onto the hand gives a good effect because it acts more like a statue and a wall instead of us thinking of it as a hand. I can use ideas like this in my work because I can manipulate images by inserting elements that don't actually belong there but look like they belong.

Documentary Image Bank

I chose this image because it documents the journey of the man on the bike. As well as showing documentary it also has aspects of movement in it because the man on the bike is shown as a motion blur. I think this image makes us think a lot because we want to know how it was captured as the picture would've had to be taken at the right moment. As well as documenting the path of the cyclist it also shows the path that the photographer would be taking as we can see the steps. I can use elements of this in my work by including movement in my documentary photos and also including some of the other primary elements.

I chose this image because it documents a story. We can see that this man must be part of the war and he is wearing a uniform and holding a gun. We begin to feel sorry for the man because his face is filled with fear. The fact that his shoulders are hunched over could show that he is trying to protect himself by trying to make himself small. This image caught my attention because it makes us want to know more about him and more about the war. I can use ideas from this photo in my work by using portraiture to document someones life.

I chose this image because it documents the lives of these girls. We can link this image to popularity and the pressures of being a girl. These girls are all thin and pretty which makes us instantly think that they are probably the popular girls. It represents the pressures to be pretty and skinny because it is showing 4 popular girls who look like they are enjoying the camera whereas other girls may not relate to this. I can use elements of this in my work because I can take pictures of different people and document their lives compared to other people.

I chose this image because it documents the pressures of being a certain size and having certain features. This image also relates to what it is like being a girl because they are being measured which puts pressure on them to be a certain size. This image represents the life of a model because they have to be a certain size to be a model. I like this image because it draws my attention as we want to know what's going on in the image, we want to know why they are doing this. I can use ideas from this picture by incorporating meanings into my images.

I chose this image because it documents the life that this girl lives. This image shows us a young girl with a cigarette, her posture looks like she should be older like the way she is dressed and the way she is holding the cigarette. It documents the lives that some children are forced to live. It can also represent the pressures of a girl because she is trying to act older than her years. I can use elements of this image in my work because I can document different types of children and the lives that they have to live.

Portraiture Image Bank

In this image there isn't much going on, it is just a normal portraiture photograph but I like this image. The lighting in this image is very feminine and soft, this lighting helps define her features, for example her cheekbones are darkened to create more shape to her face and make her make-up stand out more. Also, the background in this image gives a good effect because the dark colours make her stand out more rather than having a white background which would create a lighter version of the image giving it a different message. I like how she has no expression on her face giving the image no real emotion, all we have to go by is the dark colours which make the image seem dark. The main focus in this image is her lips because it is the only bright image existent in the photo and it stands out agains the other colours. I can use ideas from this image in my work by taking pictures of people using different colours to produce images with different emotions.

This image has a strong meaning that can be perceived in different ways. Some people may see him painting on the colour but other people may see him painting on the black and white effect. I think this image has a racial view behind it because it may seem as though he isn't comfortable in his own skin and that he wants to get rid of his colour so he can fit in with the society around him where he is mocked for the colour of his skin. The expression on his face also adds to this effect because he is straight faced but almost looking sad instead of angry. As well as his expression the lighting also adds a great effect too because it is dull and dark which represent his feeling towards the people and the society he is living in. I can use ideas from this image in my work because I can use photoshop to increase the effect that I am trying to portray in my images.

I chose this image because I think it has a great meaning about make-up. The fact that she has different colours smeared around her face represents to us that the photographer may have a negative view on make-up. They could be trying to portray the fact that make-up doesn't make us look good it is just different colours covering us up. I can use ideas like this in my work by creating images with strong meanings that people can relate to and look deeper into.

I chose this image because I think it has great tones. There are no colours in the image which makes the detail stand out more. I think this image has better meaning without colours because this way we can se the tones that are displayed, for example her cheekbones are highlighted with a dark tone to show feminine features. I can take ideas from this photographer by creating great detail but having the images black and white to create better tones.

I chose this image because the fact that it is an image of a celebrity it draws our attention more. I like how this also has no colours in the image because it makes the tones stand out more. More feminine lighting has been used in this image because of the areas of her face that appear lighter. The fact that the photographer is showing a celebrity makes us read more into it as we know her life and what kind of person she is. I can use ideas like this in my work by representing people's moods in the pictures.

Landscape Image Bank

I like this image because its main theme throughout the image is autumn. The colours in this image draw us in because the different shades of orange can be seen. The sunlight in the photo gives a good effect because we can see it peeking through the trees as we can see the orange light reflections on the pavement. There is a great depth of field in this image because we can see far into the picture as the end of the path is visible. As we look deeper into the image the colours become lighter and the colours are darker in the foreground of the image. I can use ideas from this image in my work because I can take pictures in forests as well as in street areas. This image helps me widen my ideas of landscape photography.

I like this image as the flowers in the foreground are clear but as we look deeper into the image they become less clearer. This image also has a great depth of field because we can see deep into the image into the horizon. I think the sun also has a great effect because it adds brightness into the image, without it the image would be dull and dark with a different meaning. Also, I like the different colours that are in the image, the purple sky gives a good effect even though you would've thought that it would give a gloomy/scary effect. I can use ideas from this image in my work because I can take images of landscapes that may not seem very interesting but we can make them interesting.

I like this image because it is a realistic landscape and urban areas like this landscape is the type of images that I would be taking. The people in the background and the train coming through the station make this a more realistic image because when I take pictures I will have elements in my picture that I don't necessarily want in the image but I can stop it from happening. This image has a depth of field but not as good as other landscape images. We can see the depth of field on the right hand side of the image where we can see deep into where the train is coming from but the depth of field isn't the main focus. Another element of this image that I like is the fact that the train station sign is in colour but everything else is in black and white, this makes us realise what the photographer wants us to focus on.

I like this image because of the fact that it is a famous London landmark it draws us in and grabs our attention. This image at first looks dull because there is not much colour but I think that it is interesting. I think it looks like a painting when you look at it but I think the photographer has edited this image to give it a better effect. Although the lighting in the image looks dull I think it gives it an ancient effect which works well with the landmark because it is old. I think the depth of field in this image isn't as obvious as other images but we can still see it, in the background of the bridge we can see the buildings behind it. I can take ideas from this image by photographing things like famous landmarks or things like bridges to create a landscape but also include depth of field.

I like this image because I think the height of the buildings give a great effect because it almost seems like the buildings are enclosing in on the photographer as the height of the buildings are unclear. I also like the fact that the picture is in black and white because it makes the photo seem older and we are focused on the actual picture rather than the colours if it wasn't in black and white. This image can relate nicely with my photography because I will be able to get urban pictures like this one. The depth of field in this image is strong because we can see where the path ends, I think the height of the buildings add to the depth of field. 

Joiners Image Bank

This image shows joiners because several different images have been taken of London Bridge in different places. These different images have been put together to make a whole picture. I chose this image because I was instantly drawn to it because although it isn't neat the different tones in the image make it better. I like how in this joiner we have a central image and several other images that make the central image stand out more. I can take ideas from this image by taking pictures of landmarks or buildings. Also, I can change settings on my camera to capture more or less light to create different tones.

This image shows joiners because lots of small images have been taken and fitted together to create a clearer picture. I chose this image because I was interested in the fact that it doesn't look like it has been created on Photoshop it looks like each of the pictures have been stuck together. I like that when the pictures are stuck together it doesn't create a landscape or portrait shape, it creates an uneven shape. I can take ideas from this image by taking images of landscapes. Also, I can take the use of really small images and photograph really small parts of a place.

This image shows joiners because different parts of this mans face has been taken and fitted together to make an abstract image. I chose this image because I was interested in the abstract effect of it. I like how the face can be clearly seen and each photo is of a different part. When you look closely at this image it looks like two men have been photographed and their faces have been put together. One man has longer hair and the other man has shorter hair. I can take ideas from this image by taking pictures of small sections of different peoples faces and merging them together to create a joiner. Also, I can take the idea of just using people in general to create a joiner.

This image shows joiners because different parts of the tree have been taken and fitted together. I chose this image because it shows that not everything has to be interesting to make a joiner out of it. I was interested in the abstract shape that is created when the joiners are put together. I think it is interesting how the whole tree hasn't been photographed. I can take ideas from this image by taking images of things that aren't considered as interesting but can be made interesting when we create them into joiners. Also, I can take the idea of photographing nature in general.

This image shows joiners because different parts of the woman's face has been taken and fitter together. I chose this image because I liked how abstract it is because the different parts of the face don't fit together perfectly. The fact that her whole face is in black and white except the eyeshadow shows us that the photographer wanted the eye to be the main focus of the image because it is the only part that has any colour. Although these pictures don't join up together, the image is still interesting and we are drawn into it. I can use ideas from the image by photographing smaller parts of people faces and joining them up abstractly. Also, I can take the idea of photographing small sections of people faces in general.

Movement Image Bank

In this image we can see a little boy running. This shows movement well because we can see a motion blur. This motion blur adds great effect to the image because we can make out that the little boy is running and not standing still. I chose this image because I like the blur in the image. Although the image is blurred it still is a good image because we can see what is happening but it has been taken differently. I can use ideas from this image in my work by using motion blur photography, I could get someone to run, take a picture so motion blur is present.

In this image we can see three dogs coming out of the sea. This shows movement well because we are presented with a freeze frame. This freeze frame adds a great effect to the image because we can image the way that the dogs are moving. This freeze frame leads us thinking that the dogs are running away from the sea. I chose this image because I like how the dogs have bee captured in the air as if they were jumping. I also like how the water can also be seen jumping up mirroring what the dogs are doing. I can use ideas from this image by trying to capture freeze frames of people are animals running.

In this image we can see two people on bikes riding around a track. This shows movement well because we are presented with a motion blur. This motion blur adds great effect to the image because we can image the speed that these cyclists are going at. This motion blur also helps us focus in more on the colours of the cyclists as the blur makes the colour more visible rather than the features of the bike and the person. I chose this image because I like how the motion blur helps us establish who is going faster as the yellow biker is slightly more blurred than the red biker. I can use ideas like this in my work by photographing images of people on bikes going slower or faster.

In this image we can see an orange being dropped into water. This shows movement well because we are shows a freeze frame image. This freeze frame adds great effect to the image because we can almost imagine what the sound would be like when the orange was dropped into the water. This freeze frame adds great detail to the image because we can see clearly the features of the orange and the water being affected when the orange hits. I chose this image because I like the detail of the image and the way the photographer has captured how the orange effected the water. I can use ideas from this image in my work by using water and objects together.

 

In this image we can see some dice being thrown. This image shows movement well because we are presented with a motion blur. This motion blur adds great effect to the image because the stages of the dice moving is shown. The path that the dice took to get where it is can be seen by the motion blur, we can see the movement of the dice clearly. I chose this image because I like the way that the motion blur is being presented. I can use ideas from this image because I can take different objects and throw them to create a motion blur.

Reflection and Framing Image Bank

Reflection

I chose this picture because I think it shows reflection well because the puddle produces a reflection of the building next to it. I chose this image because I like the puddle effect and there is not a lot going on in the picture which helps us focus in on the main aspect. Also, I think the colours helps in this pictures because the blues make it seem brighter and draws us in. From this image I can take the use of the puddle and the angle that it is taken at. I can use this in my work by using a reflection in a puddle from a building or another object also I can use the angle that this is taken at by making the reflection more visible.

This image shows reflection well because although we cannot see the clear reflection in the persons eye we know that a reflection is there because of the lighter area we can see. I chose this picture because I think that it is a good idea as they have used the human form to try and create the reflection. I can use ideas from this image in my work because I can take pictures of people's eyes to try and focus in on the reflection that we can see. Also, this picture can help me think of better things to take pictures of and think about things that I wouldn't originally have thought of when linking it to reflection.

This image shows reflection well because the puddle that can be seen is presenting the mans and the buildings reflection well. I chose this image because I like the way that although he is taking the photo he is also incorporating himself in his own photo by being in the reflection of the puddle. I also like how there isn't much going on around the puddle but when you focus in on the puddle there is a lot going on and more to focus on. 

This image shows reflection because we can see the building being reflected onto the table. I chose this image because I like how we are drawn to looking at the table. I also like how the rest of the image is boring and dull but when you look into the table it makes the picture more intriguing. I can use ideas from this photo in my work because I can form reflections in different places that we wouldn't think of straight away. 

This image shows reflection because we can see the hand being reflected into the mirror. I chose this image because I like that it isn't a whole person being reflected in the mirror which is what would normally happen. I like that it is someones arm and hand but you can't see the rest of them, it draws us in because we want to see what the person is like, we want to put a face to the hand. I can use ideas like this in my work because I can reflect different things in the mirror that we wouldn't think of straight away.

Framing

This image shows frame because the hands are creating a frame and almost directs us into the focus of the image. I choose this image because I liked how the hands are acting as a frame and we can see clearly what the camera has focussed on. I also like the contribution of the sun in this image because it makes us feel welcomed into the picture. We are also welcomed into the picture by the way the hands are showing a heart which symbolises love. I can use ideas like this in my work because I can get someone to make shapes with their hands and focus on what is in the shape. 

This image shows frame because we focus on the tree and the landscape that we can see inside the frame. I chose this image because I like the way that we can see what is inside the frame but we can also see what is around the frame. This helps us be drawn into the middle of the frame because the outside is boring compared to what is happening inside the frame. I can use ideas from this image because I can get someone to hold a frame and focus on what is going on inside the frame.

This image shows frame because we can see what is happening inside the wing mirror clearly. This can be seen as a frame because we are only drawn to what is happening in the frame rather than what we can see on the inside. I chose this image because it isn't like any of the other pictures that incorporated frame. I like that we can see what is behind us because it is a mirror. As well as frame this can also incorporate reflection. I can use ideas like this in my work because I can take pictures in cars wing mirrors. 

This image shows frame because we are focusing in on the shapes of the windows and what we can see out of them. I chose this image because I liked how there is 3 windows together showing the view. Although there is 3 windows when we look at them they all merge into one because we focus in on what we can see through the windows rather than the windows themselves. I can use ideas like this in my work because I can take picture through windows and focus on what is on the outside.

This image shows frame because the shape of the gate acts as a frame to focus in on the building. I chose this image because I like how everything outside the shape is blurred but the building which is the main focus in clear. The fact that this image is in black and white make us think more about the image such as whether it is from a long time ago or is it a modern picture. I can use ideas like this in my work because I can take pictures of something through a shape and make the camera focus just on what we can see through the shape.

Tone Image Bank

This image displays tone well because it shows darkened parts of the picture and light parts. The weather in this image helps create tone because the clouds are blocking the light making the tower look darker than usual. The tones in this image give a creepy effect almost as if it was part of a horror film because there is a lot of darkness in the image and the light parts are dull and eerie. I can use this idea in my work because I can use the weather to creates tone in my images and the time of day. I can use the natural light to create tones in my pictures but I can also create light to make tones.

This image also uses natural light to create tones. We can see a field and the main focus of the sky and the clouds. The tones in this image are bright and welcoming but we can see a dark cloud in the corner about to ruin the lightness and block out the sun. The deeper meaning of this image could be that the clouds are controlling because they can block out the sun but also let the sun through, almost like they create the tones. I can use these ideas in my work because I can take images of landscapes that create tone. This picture helps me because it gives me an idea of using different landscapes in my work.

This image has dark and light tones but all together the image is very dull and dark. The main focus of this image is the lions face because parts of the mane are darkened and the small area of background we can see is blurred out. A deeper meaning of this image could be that the lion is representing someone because the main representation of a lion is that they are strong and powerful leaders. The dullness of this image shows us that strong and powerful people have weak moments. I can use this idea in my image by photographing people and animals but focusing on one part of their body. 

This image uses harsh lighting to create tones in the image. We can tell that the lighting is coming from the right hand side because that side of the flower is very light whereas the left side is quite dark. By using this lighting the detail of the flower can be see very clearly. The deeper meaning of this image could be that it is representing a person, on half of the person is dark and dull but they have a bright side. I can use the idea of lighting in my work because I can use harsh lighting to get the light and dark lighting on the objects I choose. Also I can take the idea of using an object to represent something or someone.

This image uses harsh lighting too and is similar to the picture before. We can tell by looking at the image that the light is coming from the left hand side because the right side of her face is in complete darkness. Although harsh lighting is used it isn't very bright lighting because more of the dark side of the face would be lighter. As a woman is in the picture you would think that feminine lighting would be used but I think that the lighting is very masculine because her eyes are dark and I would've expected them to be lighter. I can use this idea in my work because I can take pictures of people but use lighting at different angles to create darkness in different areas of the face.
